At a planning weekend in January the Penistone leader team jointly decided the project. They made sure that there Scout Community Week project would include all sections of the group and the parents of their members, have at its heart the community and would be a showcase of the very best of Scouting.
They decided to clean up a half a mile stretch of the Trans Pennine Trail in Penistone South Yorkshire and ask local business to sponsor their efforts. The group also decided to have a plant and bird box sale at Penistone scout hut.

Barugh scouts relax on Stanage edge during a training walk last weekend, as part of the International Jamboree on The Trail (JOTT)
Abi Wade, Ben Dickinson, Jacob Kendrew, Joe Dickinson, Tom Collins and Will Harding practised with a map and compasses, accompanied by scout leaders Paul Sykes and Charles Wilkins.

450 Scouts set to volunteer in Barnsley as Scout Community Week launches

 Replaces Scout Job Week after 20 year break
 Scouts from all across Barnsley are helping range of good causes such as cleaning up the Trans Pennine Trail, installing Bird Boxes and feeders, selling Bee Houses and Bird Boxes to the local community to promote wildlife

The race night on the 19th April organised by Fitzwilliam Active Support raised a huge £560 for the Billingham Activity Centre. The organisers would like to thank all that supported the event and who came along on the night.

Andy Moore, County Commissioner is delighted to announce the appointment of John Skipper as the new District Commissioner for Barnsley.
