Have you and your pack booked for the South Yorkshire Activity weekend?
Due to the huge demand for places we have today spoken with Kingswood and arranged an extension for bookings.  We will need to confirm figures by 15th January to pay by 20th January AT THE LATEST.

Hi All,

Members of the 25th Barnsley (Barugh) scouts repairing the Butterfly Beach at Tittesworth water park.
Working with the Peak Park ranger service the scouts removed years of overgrowth, allowing better viewing of the butterfly habitat. The group were accompanied at the Marsh Farm residential centre by Scout Leader Charlie Wilkins.

Greater Youth Involvement is a major part of the Scout Associations vision of Scouting in 2018. In South Yorkshire we have been quick to grasp this message and help our young people help shape the future. Sharon Berry Beaver Leader at 1st Barnsley (St Georges) Scout Group has been selected to run the Olympic Torch Relay at Ackworth, Nr Pontefract on Monday 25th June.
Supporters are invited to cheer her on! Sharon will run along the A628, Pontefract Road in Ackworth  from Meadow Way to Purston Lane/Brown Cow pub scheduled at 12.28pm
Please arrive early to get parked and avoid road closures etc

Five teams from Barnsley took part in the very first Yorkshire Rose Challenge at Walesby Forest Scout Campsite. Teams from St Georges, Barugh, Lundwood, Penistone and Royston competed in an overnight series of challenges and had a great time. The Royston Team “Royston Rockets” narrowly missed out on the prizes by coming 4th overall. All teams had a great time and the organisers, Wharncliffe Scout Network  are planning to run a full weekend event next year.

At a planning weekend in January the Penistone leader team jointly decided the project. They made sure that there Scout Community Week project would include all sections of the group and the parents of their members, have at its heart the community and would be a showcase of the very best of Scouting.
They decided to clean up a half a mile stretch of the Trans Pennine Trail in Penistone South Yorkshire and ask local business to sponsor their efforts. The group also decided to have a plant and bird box sale at Penistone scout hut.

450 Scouts set to volunteer in Barnsley as Scout Community Week launches

 Replaces Scout Job Week after 20 year break
 Scouts from all across Barnsley are helping range of good causes such as cleaning up the Trans Pennine Trail, installing Bird Boxes and feeders, selling Bee Houses and Bird Boxes to the local community to promote wildlife
Movement’s half a million members asked to do one thing to help their local area

The race night on the 19th April organised by Fitzwilliam Active Support raised a huge £560 for the Billingham Activity Centre. The organisers would like to thank all that supported the event and who came along on the night.
