St George’s Day Parade 2017

Sunday 23rd of April, the sun was shining and Barnsley District Scouts turned out to attend the St George’s Day Parade which was held at St Mary’s Church in Barnsley.  Groups from all around the District joined with Canon Stephen Race for the celebration of our patron Saint.

During the rehearsal the Centurion Explorer Unit and the Vikings and Goddesses Beaver Colony from the 9th Barnsley Wombwell Scout Group had their new flags blessed.

Exploration 2017

Congratulations to the Centurion Explorer Scout team, Son of Bob for taking first place on this years Exploration event which began at Hesley Wood.  Explorer Units from in and around the Barnsley District were invited to take part.  Teams were given a list of places to visit and collect points from the places they visited.

 

Awards for all.

Barnsley District held an awards ceremony for all the young people to go along and be recoginsed for earning their Chief Scout Awards from Bronze for the Beaver Scouts, Silver for the Cub Scouts and Gold for the Scouts.  Barnsley District Explorer Scouts also awarded their Young Leader training completion and some Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards.  A wonderful evening.

The weather was kind to the Scouters on Sunday who took part in the St Georges Day Parade at St Mary’s Church in Barnsley.

Penistone Beavers

This weekend Penistone Beavers have been to Chester zoo, had a birthday party for 30 years of beavers and the queens 90th birthday and have all renewed out promises as part of a little parade we did at the sleepover this morning.
